    CHOOSING SIZE OF THE LAMPSHADE

The height and width of the lampshade and the lamp base should not be the same. You can calculate the height by dividing the lamp into three thirds, where the lamp base is 2/3 and the screen is 1/3. This means that if your lamp base is 40 cm, the shade should be half as big, which is 20 cm in this case.

The width of the screen should be twice as large as the lamp base. If the lamp base is 10 cm wide, the shade should be around 20 cm wide, 10 cm on each side when it is placed on the lamp base.

    CHOOSING SHAPE OF THE LAMPSHADE

To create symmetry, the shade and the lamp base must have the same shape. If you have a round lamp base, place a round screen. If the lamp base is square, then you should have a square screen.

If you have a lamp base that is decorated, it can be good to use a simple lampshade that does not stand out. The contrast means that the focus is on the wonderfully decorated lamp base that can stand in the spotlight instead of the screen.

    Note!
If you feel that being symmetrical is not your thing, try to do the opposite. Place a round shade on a square lamp base. And if you want to decorate your home beyond the ordinary, then spice up your lamp, both shade and lamp base!

    MIX AND MATCH WITH COLORS

Matching with similar colors creates harmony in the room. Blue with shades of blue and green with shades of green. However, it does not have to be the same tones, it can be colors that complement each other, for example warm colors such as red and orange.

If you have red pillows on the sofa, feel free to combine them with an orange lampshade. As with pillows and curtains, lampshades are a great way to bring a more daring and vibrant color into the room that creates contrast. Try a color that stands out among the decor at home. The possibilities are endless!

    RIGHT MATERIAL = RIGHT LIGHTING

In addition to color and shape, the material of the lampshade is an important factor in getting the right lighting in the room. If the lamp is to be used for reading or to illuminate the room, it may be a good idea to think twice before choosing a shade with heavy material. Instead, use a shade that is, for example, transparent or light in the material to get more light.

Shades of light fabric and paper, such as rice lamps and white fabric, gives a diffused light. The light spreads softly in the room and does not form sharp shadows because it does not shine in any particular direction. If, on the other hand, you want a directed light, then instead choose a shade that shapes the light and directs it in a certain direction. Last but not least, do not forget to choose the shade you like!
